About the work we support
Although most people link God's Golden Acre Khayelihle with residential care, the majority of the work is done in the rural areas that have been devastated by HIV/AIDS in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. The aim of God's Golden Acre Khayelihle is to support children in their communities in the countryside by providing resources for them to care for themselves and to help rebuild their families and communities. The enormity of the HIV situation needs a holistic approach between different agencies and like-minded organizations. With this in mind God's Golden Acre Khayelihle does the following work: God's Golden Acre Khayelihle Rural Outreach
Based in Inchanga, this is an outreach project that cares for, at present 5,000 children in extended families in the rural areas. Older sibling and granny headed families have become so impoverished that they are finding it increasingly difficult to provide for their children. Lack of infrastructure - no running water facilities, electricity, fuel or employment opportunities, makes it more difficult for them to cope. Failing health and almost non-existent medical facilities further add to the seriousness of the situation. The aims of our rural outreach program are: Impact Migration
African Sporting Academy
Arts and Culture Academy
Arts and Skills Development
God's Golden Acre Khayelihle's Care Centre God's Golden Acre Khayelihle Care Centre cares for children in community cluster foster homes. The centre is run by a team of foster parents and caregivers, with support from international volunteers. Our aim at God's Golden Acre Khayelihle is always to assist children to stay with their families or within their communities through the outreach projects. For some children this is not possible and it is at Khayelihle that they find a loving and nurturing environment
